It's Boxing Day in the Brockman household and Santa has paid a visit, along with some burglars. While Mum and Dad try to maintain some festive spirit, Ben wreaks havoc with a mechanical hand, Jake argues the case for pirated music and Karen is busy writing New Year’s resolutions - not for herself, but for the rest of the family, and Barack Obama. With guests arriving, some welcome, some not, the pressure is on Dad to get lunch on the table. But where’s Grandad?

Outnumbered is a comedy series that seems to get better each time it's on. Created by two comedians behind "Drop The Dead Donkey" and starring Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner, this show is about the Brockman Family. The two parents are outnumbered by their 3 children and life can sometimes take the odd turn, such as in this Christmas Special. The family have recently been burgled and Pete and Sue have worked out that their claim is only just above the excess, and that they may not actually be able to claim because the gate was left open. Their moral dilemma is whether or not to add extra items that have been broken over the last year to bump up the claim amount. However this is against everything that they have tried to teach their children, especially when they are telling Jake that he shouldn't be illegally downloading music.
What is great about this series is that many of the lines from the children are ad-libbed, obviously within a framework of the story. This of course adds to the acting worries for other actors around them! There are some great moments in this episode such as the whole taking the floorboards up to find a hamster debate and of course why "A Christmas Carol" shouldn't be watched!
The only downside of this whole thing is the price. It's only one episode and so retailing it for £9.99 seems a little steep for just 40 minutes of television, no matter how good an epsiode it is!
